National long-term Community Forest Management Specialist (up to 12 person
months – part-time)
Project:
“Nature Conservation and Sustainable Natural Resources Management in a National
Park Region in Vietnam”.
Project Description:
To contribute to reduction of the pressure on the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National
Park (PNKBNP) and amelioration of the legal income of the target group living in the
project area.
The candidate will assist the Chief Technical Adviser (CTA) in planning and
supervising the reforestation component of the project.
Preparation/amendment of forest management guidelines;
Assistance in elaboration of a participatory forest inventory;
Assistance in drafting forest development plans and medium-term forest
management plans;
Elaboration of silvicultural measures and concepts oriented at forest
certification principles and criteria;
Advice to forest farmer groups and local forest management organizations to
carry out sustainable forest practices;
Preparation, organization and implementation of specific training courses;
Development of cost norms;
Supervision of forest management activities.
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate owns a university degree in forestry or above and specialized in
social forestry/ forest planning and inventory or related fields;
+ 5 years of professional experience in similar projects; as well as thorough
understanding of Community Forest Management matters;
The candidate has good understanding about Phong Nha – Ke Bang region.
The candidate is fluent in Vietnamese and English.
Meeting timing requirements allocated for project activities, acceptable to field
trips and overnight stays in remote or ethnic minority areas;
Duration and Location of Assignment:
Up to 12 person months in the project region
